Manhattan woman displays rhinoplasty results at New Look New Life

Rhinoplasty goes by many names—Nose surgery, “Nose job,” or nose reshaping surgery. This procedure is the third most popular cosmetic surgery in the U.S. with 213,780 rhinoplasties performed in 2018 alone. The goal of rhinoplasty is to change the size and/or shape of the nose to address breathing difficulties, aesthetics concerns, or both. Many men and women are unhappy with the appearance of their nose and rhinoplasty can deliver stunning results by altering the bridge of your nose, nostrils, or nasal tip.

If you’re unhappy with the size or shape of your nose or have difficulty breathing through your nose, please contact our rhinoplasty specialist and board-certified cosmetic surgeons in Manhattan today at (646) 559-2854 or fill out our contact form to see if a rhinoplasty is right for you. New Look New Life Cosmetic Surgical Arts serves patients in Manhattan and nearby New York City areas.

What is Rhinoplasty?

The goal of a rhinoplasty procedure is to change the appearance of your nose for cosmetic or medical reasons. This face procedure involves surgically altering the cartilage, bone, and skin of your nose. Every patient, and therefore every rhinoplasty, is unique. Depending on the extent of modification, your nose surgery may be performed inside the nose or through an external incision on the underside of your nose between the nostrils. Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, which means you’ll be able to leave the surgical center (though you’ll need a friend or family member to drive you home) the same day of your surgery.

You’ll likely need to wear a nasal splint during the first 5-7 days of your recovery. There will be swelling and slight bruising around your eyes, but these typically subside within a week of your rhinoplasty. Avoid intensive workouts and activities for three to six weeks or until one of our cosmetic surgeons has cleared you to do so.

Our Rhinoplasty Specialist, Dr. Carey Nease, will go over your nose reshaping procedure and answer your questions during your initial consultation at New Look New Life Cosmetic Surgical Arts.

Your final result can usually be seen after around six months, but you’ll be able to return to work and social engagements around two or three weeks after your rhinoplasty without noticeable signs that you had cosmetic surgery. Final results can take up to a year to be realized.

What Nose Issues Can a Rhinoplasty Address?

Rhinoplasty can correct a number of aesthetic concerns while also eliminating breathing issues caused by structural defects of the nose from trauma or birth including:

  • Uneven facial proportions such as a nose that is “too small” or “too large”
  • Wide Nose- bridge and tip
  • Bulbous Tip
  • Flared or Pinched Nostrils
  • Crooked Nose
  • Drooping Nasal Tip
  • Enlarged Nasal Tip
  • Protruding Nasal Tip
  • Bump on Nasal Bridge

This cosmetic surgery corrects the issues listed above by narrowing the nasal bridge, altering nostril openings, reshaping the tip of the nose, or straightening an off-center, crooked nose. In some cases, the angle of your nose in relation to your upper lip can be changed as well.
