Chemical Peels

Aesthetic Skin Peels in NYC

Refreshing your skin for a youthful and healthy glow does not have to mean taking time away from work or your social life. With a chemical peel professionally tailored for your skin type, Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini can dramatically improve sun damage, discoloration, and a wide range of other skin flaws—all without surgery and very little downtime.

What is a chemical peel?

During a glycolic peel, derma peel, or skin peel a chemical solution is applied to the face to slough away dead skin cells and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini uses this process to bring new, younger skin to the surface for a smoother, more youthful look.

Is a chemical peel right for me?

Chemical peels are incredibly effective at reducing the signs of aging and sun damage, including:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Acne spots
  • Age spots
  • Freckles
  • and dark patches

Overall, chemical peels can bring a glow to facial skin that appears tired or dull.

When can I schedule my chemical peel at New Look New Life?

Your chemical peel appointment can be scheduled at our office shortly after your initial consultation. A light chemical peel is used to address minor imperfections, while a deep chemical peel involves more significant skin removal. Our team will help you select the degree of chemical peel strength that’s right for you.

How soon will I see results from my chemical peel?

As your skin heals after treatment, your new and fresh face will be revealed in a matter of days, with continued improvement over a week or two (*).

How should I prepare for my chemical peel?

Our may advise you to stop using certain skin medications prior to your treatment, such as Retin-A, glycolic acid, or other skin products.

How long does a chemical peel take?

Your chemical peel treatment will take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the degree of the peel. You may feel some tingling, stinging, or minor burning during the treatment from the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). If necessary, Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini can provide pain medication to ease your comfort.

How long does recovery take?

Immediately after treatment, your skin will appear sunburned. Over the course of a week, your dead skin cells will gently scale away to reveal the fresh new skin underneath. Sun exposure must be avoided during the healing process and sunscreen is strongly encouraged. Deep chemical peels may require the face to be covered with petroleum jelly and protective strips for a day or two.

What are the chemical peel side effects?

Chemical peels are safe facial treatments. Rare side effects could include allergic reactions, discoloration of the skin, blistering, or scarring.

Patients experiencing any unusual or concerning symptoms are advised to call Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini’s cell phone immediately.

How long do the results of a chemical peel last?

Chemical peels can provide long-lasting results. Many patients choose to have regular sessions to maintain a youthful appearance as they age.

How much does a chemical peel cost?

Once the degree of your chemical peel is determined, Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini will review the investment with you in detail.
