Voluma®, Volbella®, & Vollure™ – Oh My!

Karlinsky, Juvederm - ImageWhen it comes to dermal fillers, one size definitely does not fit all! Fortunately, as the number of men and women seeking out dermal filler treatments continues to grow, so too does the number of fillers options available to them. New injectable cosmetic treatments are continuously introduced to the market. Juvéderm, one of the most popular fillers at our New York practice, is no exception. Within the past three years, the Juvéderm® family has grown—first, with the introduction of Voluma, followed by Volbella, and most recently, Vollure.

Voluma, Volbella, & Vollure – What is the difference?

Like all Juvéderm fillers, Voluma, Volbella, and Vollure are composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that keeps the skin hydrated and plump. What makes the three “v” fillers different is that they take advantage Vycross, a new filler technology that blends and cross-links different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. We end up with fillers that, while similar, act just a bit differently to achieve certain aesthetic goals.

Voluma – As the thickest and strongest gel in the Juvéderm family, Voluma is the ideal choice for adding volume to larger and more substantial areas like the mid-face. Voluma can define the cheek area and add a nice lift and volume boost to the face.

Volbella – Volbella is the most spreadable gel. Its thinner formulation makes it the perfect choice for precise shaping, treating really fine lines, and restoring delicate details such as defining the vermillion border or the cupid’s bow around the lips.

Vollure – Vollure is the newest member of the Juvéderm family. Its consistency falls in between that of Voluma and Volbella—it has the durability of Voluma but the spread-ability of Volbella. As a softer, more moldable filler, Volbella is able to offer subtle correction and a more natural look than otherwise possible. It is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler to receive FDA approval for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and facial folds, like nasolabial folds or marionette lines.
