5 Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures in 2015

Posted May 06, 2015 in Plastic Surgery

Every year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons compiles a list of trends and statistics about plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures. The latest reports indicate that five procedures stand out as the most in demand procedures for 2014 and the trend is expected to continue through this year. Many plastic surgeons and medical experts have created their own forecast based on trends they have noticed at their own practice, highlighting an increased demand for minimally invasive procedures like Botox and fillers and fat grafting.

Here are the five most popular plastic surgery procedures for 2015:

  1. Breast Augmentation
Getting breast implants is still a high priority for many women who want to enhance their silhouette. The number of breast augmentation procedures performed in 2014 was down 1 percent from 2013, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, but this is still one of the most sought-after procedures. Women can choose between sili-cone and saline breast implants to achieve their desired look — silicone gel implants create a softer, more natural look while saline implants create a firmer and rounder appearance.
  2. Rhinoplasty
The nose is one of the most noticeable features of the face. Rhinoplasty, otherwise known as nose reshaping surgery, is a popular procedure among men and women who want to correct the appearance of their nose. The procedure can reshape the bridge or tip of the nose to restore facial harmony and create a more attractive profile.
  3. Liposuction
Patients concerned about a few extra inches around their hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks and other parts of the body can undergo liposuction to reshape the body. This continues to be a popular body contouring procedure among men and women who are already at a healthy weight but just need to take care of a few problem areas. Many surgeons perform this procedure using minimally invasive techniques, which boast a faster recovery time and require minimal incisions. Tickle Lipo is one example of a less invasive procedure and involves using a heat-free wand to remove excess body fat without causing trauma to surrounding tissue.
  4. Eyelid Surgery
Rejuvenating the area around the eyes with eyelid surgery, otherwise known as blepharoplasty, can create a wide-eyed look and fresh-faced appearance. This procedure involves removing excess skin and tissue from the upper or lower eyelids to open up the eye area. It can be very effective for reducing the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes, getting rid of dark under eye circles and eliminating any puffiness that may be interfering with vision.
  5. Facelift Surgery
The facelift is a fairly aggressive anti-aging procedure and can take up to a decade or more off the patient’s appearance. This procedure involves removing excess skin around the face and jaw line, getting rid of excess fat and repositioning facial tissues to restore a youthful look. Some patients may need to undergo a combination procedure with a forehead lift and eyelid surgery to achieve the full result they are looking for.
