2015 Male Plastic Surgery Stats

Posted April 30, 2015 in Surgery for Men

Accounting for more than 90 percent of all plastic surgery patients, an increasing number of men are showing interest in going under the knife. The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery states that the number of male plastic surgery procedures has increased 121% over the past decade and demand by male clients continues to rise.

Here is a closer look at statistics for male plastic surgery procedures in 2015:

Demand for Plastic Surgery Among Male Clients

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that many men are looking to rejuvenate their appearance as they age. Some of the most popular procedures among men are facial rejuvenation procedures, liposuction and rhinoplasty. Many men are concerned about a few extra inches around their waistline, a misshapen nose, and wrinkles and lines that are giving away their age. For these reasons, many resort to plastic surgery to maintain a more youthful look.

Top Male-Focused Procedures

According to the latest statistics from ASPS, the top male-focused procedures in 2014 were pectoral implants (increased 208 percent from 2013 to 2014) and male breast reduction (increased 29 percent since 2000). Both of these procedures are performed as an outpatient surgery and can help some men feel more confident about their appearance.

Demand for Botox Among Men

As an alternative to going under the knife, men concerned about wrinkles around the forehead and losing their youthful looks may turn to Botox for a little help. Demand for ‘Brotox’ is increasing around the country as more men hope to take a few years off their appearance. Botox is a popular injectable for minimizing the appearance of lines and wrinkles along the forehead, around the eyes and around other parts of the body. It also has a number of off-label uses and is available at medical spas and plastic surgery centers around the country.

Other Options for Men

Many men want to freshen up their look as they reach middle age, go through a divorce or just to have more self-confidence as they climb up the corporate ladder. Facelift surgery is a more aggressive procedure that works to get rid of sagging skin, excess fat and other telltale signs of aging permanently.

Some other plastic surgery options for men may include:

  • Eyelid surgery

Drooping or sagging eyelids can make a patient appear older, angry or tired. Eyelid surgery is very effective for opening up the eye area and creating a more youthful look.

  • Liposuction of the face or body

Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures among men and can be performed on both the face and the body to get rid of excess fatty deposits. Male liposuction procedures may include the Tickle Lipo or Lunchtime Lipo technique, which are very effective for removing smaller amounts of fat from stubborn areas.

  • NeoGraft hair restoration

Many men are concerned about hair loss, another side effect of the aging process. The Neograft hair restoration procedure is an FDA-approved treatment for hair loss and one of the most advanced solutions available for hair loss today. It is a minimally invasive and painless procedure with virtually no downtime.
