Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Replacing the Tired, “Baggy” Eye Look with a Refreshed One
Blepharoplasty is a procedure designed to “brighten” and “open up” the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Aging skin, as well as genetic factors, can contribute to sagging skin around the eyes, projecting a look of stress and fatigue. Blepharoplasty offers a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.
It is, however, a delicate procedure requiring a skilled and experienced surgeon. “Heavy-handed” removal of fat and excess skin can result in the “pop-eyed” look so often ridiculed in popular culture as being the result of improperly conducted surgery. Dr. Karlinsky takes special care to ensure that incisions are delicate and precise, producing a natural, refreshed appearance. In some cases, she may use fat contouring techniques to fill out the “tear trough”—also known as “under-eye bags”—for a rejuvenated look. In other cases, facial fillers may be injected to soften and even-out this area.
Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:
* Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
* Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
* Bags under the eyes
* Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye)
* Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid
Eyelid surgery is usually performed on adult men and women who have healthy facial tissue and muscles and have realistic goals for improvement of the upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding area. Again, at New Look New Life, our goal is to reveal the best you—not to encourage the pursuit of a uniform standard for beauty or attractiveness.
