How should I prepare for chin augmentation?
Blood thinning medication and NSAIDs such as aspirin, Advil® or ibuprofen, and Aleve® must be avoided for 2 weeks before and after surgery. You must also quit smoking for this time period. For your safety and comfort, you should arrange for a ride home after the procedure.
How is chin augmentation performed by Dr. Karlinsky?
Chin implants are available in a range of sizes. Through her careful attention to natural results, Dr. Karlinsky will work closely with you to select one that is right for you. While you are under local anesthesia, Dr. Karlinsky will place your chin implant through an incision just under the chin and permanently secured it to the bone.
How long does chin augmentation take?
Dr. Karlinsky’s chin augmentation procedure takes just an hour or so to complete.
Do I have to stay overnight after chin augmentation?
Definitely not! Chin augmentation surgery is safely performed in the New Look, New Life surgical center and you will return home after a short rest in our recovery suite.
How long does recovery take?
You will feel well enough to be up and around the evening of your procedure, though you are likely to feel numbness in your chin area. Until your chin is fully healed, you must avoid rigorous activity or anything that could bump or shift the chin implant. Elevating your head while resting will help reduce swelling.
How soon can I start exercising?
You may resume light exercise as soon as you feel well enough, though more physically demanding activity should be avoided for at least 2 weeks. Dr. Karlinsky will provide specific guidelines regarding sports that involve physical contact.
What are the chin augmentation risks?
Chin augmentation risks are rare, but could include poor scarring, bleeding, implant shifting, and infection.
