Liposuction
Permanent Fat Removal
Liposuction removes significant fat deposits from the body through a small thin tube called a cannula. Unlike Hollywood-Style Liposuction, traditional liposuction is designed for patients who need not simply sculpting, but substantial fat removal.
The new liposuction technology that we employ at New Look New Life improves fat removal accuracy and reduces post-operative pain. Today, liposuction is usually performed via the tumescent technique, which has transformed liposuction into a much safer and less invasive procedure.
Is Liposuction Right for Me?
We always advise our patients that liposuction works best for patients who: a) are in good overall health and maintain a healthy lifestyle; b) have one or more problem areas with unresponsive fat deposits; and c) understand that liposuction cannot be used as a means for major weight loss. It is, instead, designed to remove localized areas of stubborn fat after the patient has attempted other natural weight loss methods.
Liposuction can be used to treat fat deposits within the:
- Thighs
- Abdomen
- Arms
- Back
- Hips
- Buttocks
- Chest
- Face
- Calves
- Ankles
This procedure may be performed alone, or can be combined with other cosmetic procedures, such as a facelift, breast reduction, or tummy tuck, to achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
Procedure
We perform liposuction using the tumescent technique, which involves an injection of anesthesia composed of saline, lidocaine, and anesthesia to help reduce blood loss and shorten recovery times. Dr. Karlinsky will make several tiny incisions and inject a local anesthetic into the area to help expand and firm the fat, making it easier to remove. The cannula is then inserted through the incisions to suction out the fat. No stitches are needed after liposuction since the incisions are small enough to heal on their own.
