Hollywood style liposuction is done under local anesthetic, to help sculpt various areas of the body and to remove those fat deposits that have proved resistant to diet and exercise. Prior to beginning the procedure, the areas to be treated are carefully marked and a local anesthetic is given to numb the area. During the recovery process, there may be some minor discomfort for the first 24 hours following the procedure which can be effectively treated with pain medication. Occasionally, bruising may occur but normally disappears within few days of treatment. Depending upon the area being treated, a compression garment to aid in healing and to minimize swelling may be recommended.
