Botulinum toxin injections have been around for many years and they are the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure done in the United States. Cosmetically, Botox and Dysport are used to temporarily paralyze the injected muscle for facial improvement and value, giving your face the young look you’ve always wanted!

“Botulinum Toxin is only for cosmetic use, why do I need it?”

Many people believe that Botox and Dysport are only used for clients who are interested in that young look again but in fact, they can be used to treat a number of medical conditions.

Blepharospasm: an eye twitching disorder – has been treated using a small amount of Botox to relax the muscles around the eye, which provides relief of the twitching. This has been FDA approved for children.

Strabismus: commonly referred to as “lazy eye” or “cross eyes”: when the muscles around the eye don’t work properly or when an overactive muscle is paralyzed. Botox injections cause the remaining muscles to function properly which improves the persons vision.Botox therapy is safe enough to use on infants and children and is a good alternative to surgery for children.

Cerebral Palsy: Which effects muscle tone, movement and motor skills. Botox is injected into the spastic and dystonic muscles which will reduce the stiffness in a person’s body. Reducing the stiffness with Botox will actually improve a person with Cerebral Palsy’s range of motion. Improved range of motion helps Physical Therapists stretch muscles with less of a struggle and less pain.

Cervical Dystonia: A painful condition in which muscles in the neck and shoulders cramp severely, causing an abnormal positioning of the head. After Botox is injected into the muscles, spasms and muscle tightening is reduced.

Hiperhydrosis: Also known as excessive sweating; has been treated with Botox injections and is becoming very common. Injectable’s used under the armpit block the chemical transmitter that causes sweating and has generally been a successful treatment for many patients.

Migraines/Headaches: A severe vascular headache; a discomfort we experience in our everyday lives– Injections can be used in the fore head, in the eye brow area, side of the head and other locations. Botox injections for headache and migraine use have reported to be 80-85% effective.

Dermatological research and technology, however, have advanced a great deal over the years. It is no longer necessary to use harsh, potentially damaging, chemicals to slough off the top layers of skin to reveal the fresh, radiant layer underneath.

At New Look New Life, we use Vi Peel, a solution that combines phenol acids, vitamin C, and Retin-A to offer a gentler peel experience that is safe for all skin types. While it is still essential to protect your skin after the treatment, as you would with any serious exfoliating treatment, it is all but impossible to burn with the Vi Peel.

Vi Peel solution is applied to the skin of the targeted area (usually the face, chest, hands or neck) with no need for anesthesia. A: You’re right—the Zerona process does sound great on paper. And, after putting the Zerona process through its clinical paces at New Look New Life, I can honestly say that it is also great in medical fact: In our trials, the claimed fat loss lived up to Zerona’s marketing materials. As I explain thoroughly to all my patients, however, the key to the success of the Zerona treatment is following the protocol to a T.

First, the Zerona process flushes fat out of your body via the lymphatic system, so naturally, it is essential that you do everything possible to support your lymphatic system during the treatment. I go over this aspect of protocol very carefully with all my patients before and throughout the process—every responsible, qualified cosmetic surgeon does the same.

But frankly, when procedures sound too good to be true, we at New Look New Life Surgical Arts tend to view them with a skeptical eye. When Dr. Karlinsky reviewed the clinical data, however, and learned that in a double-blind, controlled study, patients’ average weight loss was 3.5-inches—and that the success rate was 93 percent, when the protocol was strictly followed—we decided to look into it more carefully to see if this incredible-sounding treatment might be one we would feel confident offering to our patients.

The way the Zerona laser process works is this. Think of a fat cell as a grape. There is exterior “skin” or membrane that encases the juicy tissue—in the case of the cell, the fat, or adipose tissue—inside. The Zerona laser process essentially emulsifies the interior adipose tissue via a patented laser device, and the released fat droplets seep across the cells’ membranes.
