One of the risks that any patient undergoing breast augmentation surgery assumes is a particular type of scarring called “capsular contracture,” which occurs when scar tissue tightens excessively around the implant, causing painful pressure and breast shape distortion.
However, according to a new study co-authored by Dr. Karlinsky, a new procedure offers not only a safe and effective way of treating capsular contracture, but also an extremely quick recovery for patients.
The procedure, called endoscopic laser-assisted capsulotomy, is conducted by making a small incision into the scar tissue and inserting a laser equipped with an endoscope and specialized sleeve. Studying 56 patients over a seven-year period, Dr. Karlinsky and her co-authors—Howard Tobin, MD and Jon Perenack, MD, DDS—conclude that this method minimizes further complications that other methods designed to treat capsular contracture have been known to cause. Moreover, it delivers results that patients are happy with.
We are looking forward to being able to offer this new surgical treatment at New Look New Life, as soon as patents permissions allow. Check back with us for updates.
