Bariatric surgery is the most extreme option offered to morbidly obese patients to rapidly and drastically reduce their weight. Despite the potential risks and complications associated with these procedures, most patients do very well and loose significant amount of their excess weight in the first year or two. Because the weight loss is very rapid, most patients end up having to deal with severe excess of skin on their abdomen, thighs, arms, chest and back.
At our clinic we perform many body contouring procedures for patients post Massive Weight Loss Surgery. Below is an example of a 50 year old woman who had lost over 200 lbs post Gastric Banding and underwent an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to remove the excess skin and re-approximate abdominal muscles.
The next step for her, will be to address the thighs. A thigh lift will be necessary to remove the excess skin and improve the contour of the legs. Liposuction and breast lift can also be performed if the patient will so desire.
