At New Look New Life Surgical Arts, we are launching a new question and answer series on our blog, one that we hope will be genuinely useful and informative to you, whether you are just beginning to consider a cosmetic procedure for the first time or are interested in new treatments or surgeries.
Perhaps like no other area of medicine, cosmetic procedure, both surgical and non-surgical, inspire a sense of excitement and transformation. The treatments and the results are deeply personal, affecting self-image and even confidence and well-being. Our questions about cosmetic procedures are also deeply personal.
While the complete answers to your questions always require an in-person consultation with your doctor, there are other, more general questions that may be answered in an online forum, questions whose answers may help you in your thinking.
With that in mind, we invite you to send us the questions that are on your mind at ask@newlooknewlife.com , Dr. Karlinsky and our staff will select those that are of the most wide-ranging service to all our patients, both new and those already valued and in our care. All questions will, of course, be posted anonymously.
Please check back with us at our blog for the week’s new question and answer feature. We look forward to working with you.
In the meantime, please call us to set up an appointment with Dr. Karlinsky, if you would like a free consultation.

Hollywood style liposuction is a minimally-invasive fat removal procedure used to sculpt the body and remove unwanted pesky fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise. This is an extremely effective liposuction technique which offers fast recovery and minimal discomfort post procedure. Patients often return to work within 1 to 2 days of undergoing the Hollywood Style Liposuction. The results are visible immediately after the procedure and will significantly improve in the following months. The skin in the area being suctioned tightens up as well, so the final result will be a new, well-countered body with toned skin. This liposuction method is performed strictly under local anesthesia. The ideal candidate is an individual who is in good health, practices a healthy lifestyle, in good physical shape and is not obese.

After surgery, regardless big or small, all our patients are asked to use a preparation called Scarguard.
It is a clear liquid which looks and smells like clear nail polish which contains in it silicon, steroids and vitamins; all the components which help us heal better.
Through the years it has been widely used by Cosmetic, Plastic and General Surgeon alike.
We strongly believe that it does in fact helps with minimizing inflammation and redness of a freshly healing scar, as well as prevents it from becoming raised and extremely apparent.
Some physicians have also felt that it can improve an old scar and I’m one of them.
I recommend applying Scarguard Physician formula starting one week after surgery twice a day for at least 3 months.
The physician’s formula contains more steroids and more vitamins than the one sold over the counter in any pharmacy and you can buy it at your surgeon’s office or with a prescription at your local pharmacy.
Our knowledgeable staff is available for further information on how to use the product.

Bariatric surgery is the most extreme option offered to morbidly obese patients to rapidly and drastically reduce their weight. Despite the potential risks and complications associated with these procedures, most patients do very well and loose significant amount of their excess weight in the first year or two. Because the weight loss is very rapid, most patients end up having to deal with severe excess of skin on their abdomen, thighs, arms, chest and back.
At our clinic we perform many body contouring procedures for patients post Massive Weight Loss Surgery. Below is an example of a 50 year old woman who had lost over 200 lbs post Gastric Banding and underwent an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to remove the excess skin and re-approximate abdominal muscles.
The next step for her, will be to address the thighs. A thigh lift will be necessary to remove the excess skin and improve the contour of the legs. Liposuction and breast lift can also be performed if the patient will so desire.

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
51 year old female, 5′ 6” tall and 156 lbs underwent upper body sculpting (abdomen, flanks, back) with fat transfer to the buttocks.
The patient had relative buttock atrophy and moderate localized adiposity of her upper and lower back, flanks and abdomen. The fat was harvested from those areas and grafted to the buttocks. The fat is always harvested under significantly lower pressure of suction to minimize injury to the fat cells. Once the fat is cleaned it is then re-injected using micro-cannulas to achieve the desired contour.
